Leica R-Adapter M with Macro-Elmarit-R 2.8/60mm

Leica R-Adapter M with Macro-Elmarit-R 2.8/60mm

Yesterday, the R-Leica Adapter M 14642 finally arrived (ordered mine last July 2013). They still seem to be arriving on the dealers doorstep in single installments….

Yes, it is more expensive than the Novoflex adapter, to be precise it will set you back 250€.

But from the handling and especially the tripod bracket it is worth it, especially when using some of the older & heavier R-lenses. Noticed this when I tried to mount e.g. the 135mm lens or the PC-Super-Angulon-R 2.8/28mm. Using the supplied tripod bracket the fit on the tripod is much better this way.
It is for the photographer to decide if you want to fix the the tripod bracket or not as it can be easily removed/attached.

When taking some hand held test shots yesterday in the garden, I am really happy with the handling and image quality I get from our Macro-Elmarit-R 2.8/60mm (bought in 1979).  Those shots were taken without the Macro-Elmar-R 1:1 Adapter.

Placed the shots in a gallery HERE.

ISO 200,  f4.8 – 6.8, 1/90

With live-view on the M, it is possible now to breathe life into the old R-lenses again, where it was a shame that they were catching dust on the shelf.
